A few thoughts on moving
We're at the 2 and a half week count down to moving day. For those of you haven't ever moved or haven't moved in a while that means that pretty much every thing we own is either out or taped up in a box. It also means that we're trying to eat all the food at our house with out buying more. This may be one of my favorite parts about moving. It really affords the opportunity to use ingredients in ways you might not other wise. Or make things out of season. For example, we will be taking a pumpkin cake to our church pot luck on Sunday because I don't want to move a can of pumpkin and we have some spices that need to be used up. I'm looking for lots of recipes that use pecans and walnuts because for some reason I've been stock piling them in the freezer. Other interesting ingredients that we'll be hurrying to eat in the next couple of weeks are garbanzo beans, salad dressings of many kinds, roasted red peppers, fresh frozen coconut, some pork loin and philo dough. If you know some thing yummy that uses lots of nuts or salad dressings in non-salad ways let me know.

Heath and Andrea: American Gladiators
I know that lots of you out there are wondering why we're not just posting more entries about the girls with pictures. Its because our camera hasn't been working properly for about 4 months now. We're going to get a new one on Friday but until then heres another pictureless post.
Heath and I have been watching American Gladiators online this week. I remember this show from when Alice and I were kids. I think we used to watch them on saturday morning after Saved By the Bell maybe. The new one is way more dramatic with a lot more emphasis on the charaters of the Gladiators. Here is what you should be thinking about: 1) what should Heaths Gladiator name be 2) what should my (andrea) Gladiator name be and 3) what should your Gladiator name be.
I'm looking forward to your ideas.

Books
I have been boxing up books alot today for our upcoming move. It takes me a long time to do this. Going through my books, for me, is like going through an old photo album for most people. "Oh, look, I remember when I read this and changed my mind about that." I decided to reflect on the books I have read the last few years that I think have made the biggest impact on who I am.

Alice tagged me on her blog to post 7 things about me that you probably didn't know.
1- buying new things for myself always makes me feel guilty. The only exception I can think of is coffee related things- like coffee pots and to go mugs.
2-This one is really going to shock some of you: About 2 weeks ago I started getting up at 6:30 so I could be alone before the girls get up around 7;30. It's been the best decision I've made this year. Does that make me old?
3- Our new house has 2 dining areas. I think its a waste of space.
4- I love nude art. Its so honest. Theres no where to hide. No way for the naked person to pretend like they are someone else. Nudity is vulnerability. Vulnerable is what we really are when we're not pretending like we're not. It is what we must become to be who are made to be. (I mean this all very metaphorically. I will keep wearing my clothes and I think you should keep wearing yours too)
5- I don't do it very often, but I really like listening to baseball on the radio.
6- I think America has a very boring food culture. except for popcorn. Thats pretty American right? Native American.
7- My favorite dessert is buttermilk pie (sometimes called chess pie). For all the fancy desserts I make me favorite is a simple custard pie...
